I'm Back!

I'm back from being gone for Christmas. Sunday after church we drove to my aunt's house, which is a few hours away. She was having the entire family over for Christmas dinner. Then Monday afternoon we left to go to my parent's house. Now it's almost 12:30 a.m. We just got home about 30 minutes ago. Whew! I'm ready for bed.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know . . . I will announcing a winner for the Oopsie Dazie hairclips soon. If you haven't done so, make sure you leave a comment so that you can be entered in the drawing. Also, I will be listing another giveaway this week.

Don't forget, there are two other giveaways going on . . . the design package and the breast cancer awareness earrings.

Talk to you soon. :)

Snowman Ornament

My friend Karen and I were having an online discussion about kid-made ornaments tonight. What else do moms have to talk about? lol She told me about this snowman ornament that her son made two years ago.

As you can see, you use a plastic or glass ball ornament. I'm sure red, green, or blue would work fine. Dip the child's fingertips in white paint to make the body of the snowman. After the paint dries you can use a permanent marker or paint to add the eyes, nose, and buttons. Then add the name and date to the back and a nice bow on top. Very cute and simple. This is a great keepsake. I think I might try this with my kids this year.

If you have something you'd like to share, just shoot me an email.

Reindeer Handprint Craft

I did this reindeer activity with my preschoolers last year. (Thanks to my friend Karen for sending me this picture so that I didn't have to dig my stuff out.) The head/nose of the reindeer is made with the child's foot and the antlers are made with hands. You could use this for a sweatshirt, tote bag, apron, banner (as shown), or just on a piece of cardstock. The eyes are wiggle eyes and the nose is a pom-pom. Here is a poem that you could use:

This isn't just a reindeer
As you can plainly see.
I made it with my hands
Which are a part of me.
It comes with lots of love
Especially to say
I hope you have a very,
Merry Christmas Day!

Fun-Filled Friday: Fun Christmas Links

I'm posting this week's Fun-Filled Friday links a little early this week. I thought you could use a little extra time to get started since Christmas is only a few days away. Have fun! :)

Easy Ornament Idea

My kids made these ornaments at church last night. They are pretty easy to make. You just buy clear bulb ornaments and have the kids attach Christmas foam stickers to them. If you wanted to embellish them a little you could add beads, sequins, glitter, etc. Just know that you may need a few extra in case some of them break. lol

I found a cool website today that has some great clip art. Best of all, it's free! Yay! I love free stuff. All you have to do is credit their site. Another thing I really like about their clip art is that you can change the color of the background. Just click on the clip art that you like and it will give you color options. The site is Christ Art. Have fun!

Oopsie Dazie Giveaway

Cindy, a SAHM of two, started Oopsie Dazie because she couldn’t find any unique hair accessories for her daughter. She started with clips and grew to headbands and pony tail holders. What sets Oopsie Dazie apart is the endless number of ribbon and topper combinations. It’s very possible that a clip could be a one of a kind. The offerings are always changing as well, so you can keep coming back to see what is new. It’s impossible for someone to own everything Cindy makes, because the options are endless. Plus, they are absolutely affordable and shipping is free!

The winner of this giveaway will receive two products of their choice from Oopsie Dazie. There are two ways to win the prize from Cindy.

1) Leave a comment below telling which product from Oopsie Dazie is your favorite.

2) Install the Little Fun; Little Learning giveaway button on your blog (the code is at the top right of the screen) or post about these giveaways on your website. If you choose option 2, please leave a separate comment with a link to your site or post. This will just make it easier to keep track of how many entries you have.

Don't forget about the grand prize giveaway from RS Designs. To be have a chance to win the design package, simply become a Little Fun; Little Learning subscriber no later than December 31. The subscription box is in the sidebar. It says Subscribe to Our Newsletter.

Christmas Ornament Ideas

These are some pictures of ornaments that we have made over the years. I hope these will give you some ideas for ornaments that you can make with your children.

These were made during my daughter's first year of preschool. The one on the left is (unfortunately) made of construction paper. Needless to say, it won't hold up well. The one on the right is made of the craft foam kits from Oriental Trading. They're very inexpensive. I'm not thrilled with the Christmas tree one though. As you can see, the red berries fall off very easily.

We made these last year at preschool. Thankfully, we were able to use a dye cut machine to make the Christmas trees. We used some old buttons that we had in the supply closet and some glitter for the garland. I think the foam only costs us $2. These were very thrifty ornaments! :)

My daughter came home with the stocking on the left. I think it was made with a kit, but it is made from craft foam. I'm sure you could also make this with cardstock or fabric. The one on the right is simply beads strung onto pipe cleaner. This is one of my daughter's favorite ornaments.

Do you have any hand made ornaments that you'd like to share with us? Leave a link below or tell us about it.

Just a reminder that there will be random giveaways during the month of December. I have a few giveaways lined up, so be sure to check back. Don't forget that to win the grand prize giveaway from RS Designs, you must be a subscriber. Also, thanks to Revka for creating the giveaway buttons. If you would like to donate a prize, please email me using the contact button. :)
Please help spread the word about the giveaways. Thanks!

Four Seasons Activity

My daughter brought this home from school this week. I thought it was a cute idea. Just divide the paper into four sections and write the seasons on the paper. For spring use blue fingerprints, summer is a sun made from a yellow circle, fall is foam leaf stickers, and winter is foam snowflake stickers.

Santa Claus Handprint Craft

A reader at DLTK sent in this idea. The only paint colors you need are red and white.

Paint your child's hand with white paint on the tip of the thumb, white on the fingers for Santa's beard, red on the ball of the hand with a little white under it, and pink on the palm (mix the white and red to make the pink).

After the paint dries, use markers to make Santa's face, cut around the paper, punch a hole in the top, and add a string to hang the ornament.

Gingerbread House

Now that I am not teaching, I have a preschool website and I need lots of ideas. lol It seems when I was in "teacher mode" I could think of ideas all day long. Thankfully, one of my best friends sends me pictures of her daughter's creations.

To make the gingerbread house (which really isn't made of gingerbread, lol) they used a small milk carton for the center to hold up the crackers. The exterior is made of graham crackers, icing, and candy.

Have fun and enjoy making a mess! :)
